Serger 101 or how to use a very long tweezers!

Hazzah! I DID IT! 

 I actually threaded and sewed on a Serger!  Still getting the tension *just so* but I did it and it actually worked! Heck, I even OILED this wonderful gifty from Ms. Cricket!  *hugs her muchly!*  And to think it has not started in 18 years!  *does happy dance*  I even MADE something with it! I know! I KNOW!

It was so much fun finding the goodies that went with the Brother Serger. Luckily Brother had a copy (of a copy!) of the original manual on their website so I was able to find all the bits and bobs that needed to get it working along with wonderful advice from the ladies at   LindaZ's .  I highly recommend this shop - they not only sell and fix high end sewing machines but you should see the one arm quilters for sale...*droool*.... 

So since all these goodies were new, I thought they needed a serged little bag. The bag is big enough to fit the pedal and cord.  Can't you see I am into organizing or WHAT? 

Oh yes, very long tweezers - and a looper threader(which I have already lost!) are your best friends when sewing with a serger!

Hence a pouch needed to be made - Tweezers can't go lost afterall. :)

I just love having two machines now. *squee* Now I need a nice long sewing table where a free arm can fit into one...

And surprise! My back is screwed up again. Granted, stitching until 4am is not necessarily the best thing for your back!. On a sad side note, uber good German Place Is for SALE! I am so sad, I ate all my saurebrauten and bought as much hot bacon dressing they would let me buy. Please support them and convince Christl and Olaf that they should stay! :(

Hazzah!!

Hazzah x 3! Man what a weekend! I got to hang out with Ms. Cricket and Ms. Amy and had an amazing time at Hannah's, even though I only played with my 7 gypsies Binderie and my new Copics! Way to much fun. Amy found this uber fab Stamp Case that now has me FINALLy organized & on top of all that it was 60% off! HAZZAH! Cricket not only gave me a lovely Brother Serger but tutored me through the Binderie! I am SO excited about all my little gifties that I may never go to sleep! lol I have so far printed the manual for the serger and itching to just plug it in and sew - but the tech writer in me is like READ THE MANUAL! lol. Seriously - I am shocked that a serger doesn't have a bobbin! See how little I know?! lol. The Binderie has been punching holes and I can't wait to show you what I create! The Stamp case rocks. I highly recommend this Mimi case!

Best Harry Potter... movie EVER!

I never thought I would be able to see a film on it's opening day without waiting for an hour. But yep - I got to see HP with no wait!

YEA! Seriously amazing movie. I want to go see it again!

Braids, BBQ Brisket and SKYPE!

Yes. I know. This is what one does when you are trying to get your creative on. 

Sorry for being such a horrid blogger.  I have lost my electricity *not amused* and am still having some issues with it.  Might have to upgrade the entire panel. Ironically? When I worked at UL - I used to write about BREAKERS. lmao.  The irony - I tell you. 

But what I am really enjoying is the WEATHER (like Fall/Spring! YEA) and I have started cooking again. *does happen dance*.  Today we are making BBQ Brisket ... oh the BBQ is a new recipe and it smells soooo good. I cooked the brisket in a slow cooker and I cant wait to taste this nummy goodness. Pictures to follow!

Aine and I are no longer Skype Virgins.  We have had our first ichat call with MO in Cali.  She  - lucky duck - is going to go to Comic Con in 1.5 weeks and I am uber jealous. LOL.   She will be hanging with the likes of David Tennant(Dr. Who!)  and John Borrowman(Torchwood - Capt'n Jack!) and other aDORKable people.  Gosh I wish I had her life at times!

1) I have successfully flipped something in Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac. WOW. Does that dust the cobwebs of my wee brain!  Jeez I have not done this in a bit.  But so far, so good. YEA!

2) Can we say just how fun PHOTOBOOTH  is on the mac? WAY FUN.

3) LOOK AT THIS BUMPER STICKER! My friend Paula got this for me!  She - of course -  just visited Port Angeles for a wedding and got this for me! Isn't that cool!?  I was like AWWWW.  I love it when peeps give me surprise gifties.   I guess they will start filming Eclipse there in a few months and they will be offering tours!  I have always wanted to go out to WA/Oregon and British Columbia. Her pictures and her stories make want to go!  Also I have been dying to visit the shop  AMUSE in Seattle.  

4) Speaking of movies.  Harry Potter is starting IS STARTING TOMORROW!!! YEA!!!!

5) I *finaly* BBC World News on tv! YEA!

Booooo !

1) ipod has flown the coop!  Yes, it was lost whilst traveling with me to see Public Enemies. I think it wanted to be a gangsta  and scat. :(

2) I broke my toro lawn mower! ARGH. I hate it when my electronics do not work. GERR.  GRANTED. Toro breakage could be to user error *COUGH* ME *COUGH* so I am hoping PAT the amazing(handman, neighbor, friend of my brothers, carpenter, daddy to some of the cutest kiddies EVER, spouse to a SUSIE(my alma mater, if you didnt go there you JUST wont get it!) and mayor of Prindle Avenue  will be able to fix said TORO.    I really hope so, I have to cut the grass!

3) Drama with neighbor hitting german shep? Still not resolved.  NOT PLEASED.

4) Sadness, we have lost so many talented people this past weekend.  

5) Torchwood, Children of the Earth has started in the UK. DANG IT. 

Creating on the 4th

Well this is a first! I made my own outfit! I embroidered the shirt- yes this was suppose to be my quilt but I was like - hmm this would be nice as a shirt. Luckily, I had my Sublime Stitching Tear Away Stabler because it was needed! I made a few changes to the pattern & added some yo yos. Than after a rubbing "issue"(don't ask) I realized I couldn't wear the capris I wanted - hence I needed to wear leggings. HOWEVER my shirt was not long enough to cover all so yes... I made a skirt out of old jeans! Dang is that easy to do! Yes it could be a bit better but I really thought I rocked it! Now I am pumped to finally open up that Amy Butler pattern! We had a very fun time at my sister's annual 4th of July party. She really does a great job & we had the neighbors fireworks to boot! Aine was very spoiled at the 4th of July party. In fact, my little cousin made her a glow-stick necklace. Isn't that cute? Let me tell ya it really helped when it was pitch black out during the fireworks! I think she is wearing it to bed. ;) Happy 4th everyone! Love Nan & Aine
