Happy Birthday little GIRL!  I love you! Aine got a special fleece hugable shirt in Bright Pink, a small teddy and 5 bites of baked pasta! We are saving the bil-jak for laters.  MWAH my little baby boooooo!

Must have Monday! Tech Girl Edition

 *wavies* remember me? Yep it is Nan. I am soooo sorry that I have been lax with the blogging.  I have been so busy mostly with THIS:

for my Mom's bday - I can't wait to see it printed!  35 pages of 72 fun pictures.  I am really impressed with iPhoto printing  products. The site is really easy to use and they look to have a quick turnaround. Will keep you up to date on this baby! If this works, this is totally a MUST HAVE.

Speaking of Must Haves, here are some fun Iphone Apps - my favorite one - a Reader app- I can not find the link nor the picture - but keep on the look out for it because it will compile all your feeds into one nice little app!

Yes you can say - well Nan, I can get these on the web - why need an APP?  SIMPLICITY is the key - I don't want to remember all my techy and gossip sites - also it adds sites ! :)

Lastly. The iPad. *sigh*

I have  to follow the techno world for a living so seeing information on the iPad is a daily occurrence. I can't hide from it because it affects so many areas of my business. Anyways - I find it fascinating the amount of passion some folks have for all things APPLE and their products. It is a cult at times. Not that I am complaining! I have found myself quickly succumbing to the cult of Apple. I find myself going over to people houses that use a Mac and wanting to reprogram their mouse because it doesn't have a right and left click.  It is a sickness, I tell you.

Well the reason why I feel the need to confess this is that I am trying ever so hard to resist the first gen iPad.  Apple are masters of PR and confidentiality - which fascinates me as well.  They know how to play their followers and we are happy to play along. lol. People are guessing - will there be Flash? How can it work without Flash?  Will there be other surprises that has yet to be annouced?  Last minute deals that are *got to haves* - kinda like how Youtube did it right before the iPhone?

The first Gen wifi iPad should be available in less than 30 days - so bets are being made on when will be the first date to pre-order iPads. I have found myself *attempting* to rationalize an iPad but I still come back to - Nan? you are being so lazyyy.

So when will I pull the trigger? The following has to happen:

1. more apps go to HTTP5 OR a miracle happens and Flash is installed on the iPad.
2. price - it has to go down for the wifi and the 3g by $200 -300. I am still refusing to pay $130 extra for a fricken 3g chip. Seriously now.
3. more of my crafty magazines need to get online.  I am not the best book reader currently but if my crafty magazines get on there? oh boy. Will that not only clean up my space in my house I will be able to quickly index it. Just think of the organizing.

and I know there are even more excuses on why I should buy one but Dr. WHO is on... *SQUEE*  xoxo Nan

 I am so sorry guys. I have been crazy busy with work and finishing a commission...than I have to do another commission but it is for my mom's party - so I just don't know when I can blog! *sigh*. Anyways.. wanna see a  sneak peak of my commission? Here you be!

I am having so much fun with this commission - I can't wait to share it all!

But before I forget - please give tons of love and good karma to Aine's pal Mugsy Boo and his Big Boo Boo. :(  Aine and I have been in a dither when we heard the news of his accident. We lovith the BOO so much because he is so cute and sweet. We lovith his pug-sister too but right now we are focusing all good karma to THE BOO. Get well soon BOO! Be a good girl Pixie!!

Finally - GO SHAUN WHITE! REPEAT! REPEAT!  Yep that is me(and Aine not bovered) and The Flying Tomato.  *squee*  GO TEAM USA!!

Ipad Pricing - told ya!

Tech Girly Geek here... aka ME. Anyways - Remember how I mentioned in my unofficial Ipad review the RIDICULOUSIS cost of $130 for  Ipad GS chip? PROOF BABY! Oh how I love MacRUMORS.com! Bloomberg is a very reputiable place and these prices do seem surprisingly low - but I do believe  what they found it is correct.

So now what do I think? 

• The pricing has to seriosuly go way down in order for people to hope on this trend. If this economy has told us anything, people are tighting their belts so get that price down APPLE.
•  Hulu as well as other flash enabled Apps need to either create a non-flash version for Ipad or Apple/Adobe need to figure out next steps here.   Which is extremely doubtful. It will take a minor miracle and I know both vendors.
• They need to branch out and not just put iworks on there. Can we say zzz?
• For those of you who can't wait:
• •  Make your iphone a mini iPad!
  • Make your own iPad!

Bloomberg BusinessWeek reportson new estimatesfrom market research firm iSuppli detailing component costs for Apple's lowest-priced iPad at $219.35 plus an additional $10 in manufacturing costs, compared to a retail price of $499. While the component cost calculations do not include such expenses as research and development, software, marketing, distribution, and patent licensing, the tally still suggests that Apple is set to make a healthy profit on its new tablet device.

The most profitable of the six iPads is the 32-gigabyte version with 3G network access, Sideco says. Its combined materials and manufacturing cost of $287.15 amount to 39.4% of the retail price. The least profitable is the 16-gigabyte non-3G version, which sells for $499. Its combined costs amount to $229.35 or 46% of the retail price, leaving the slimmest potential profit margin of the six.

iPad models offering 3G wireless connectivity will carry a $130 price premium at retail over the corresponding Wi-Fi-only models, while iSuppli calculates that the additional cost to Apple is only approximately $27.10 ($24.50 for 3G components and $2.60 for GPS). Other items of interest included in the estimates are the 9.7-inch multi-touch display at $80.00 and the custom Apple A4 system-on-a-chip serving as the brains of the device at $17.00.

A reportearlier this week claimed that Apple executives have left the door open to iPad price cuts if consumer demand fails to meet expectations, and iSuppli's estimates appear to suggest that the company may have sufficient profit margin on the device to lower retail prices if necessary.

Will you look at this cuteness?  I am all about Alice in Wonderland for the Etsy Store as well as in my personal life. Since the images from the original book series are now copyright free, I am creating a valentines day  tapestry hanging out of Claudine's Amazing Sticky Back Canvas! I love her product! I can't get enough of it  -seriously!  I am so excited about this that I just couldn't keep it a secret any longer! I hope to have it completed this weekend.  *squee*
