Hello my lovely blog followers. I apologize for being so tardy in posting. Finally on Labor Day I have done something I have been dying to do for ages: BOTTLEBRUSH TREES! I love old fashioned bottle brush trees.
There are two ways to do bottle brush trees- easy and sorta easy. The easiest is to get green landscape trees for train sets and throw them in bleach. I am so shocked to see how fast they lost their color. The fun part is you can do fading gradients too. The other way to make your tree is the Martha Stewart way. Find sisal( it is a rope and hard to find but I found it) and some wire. I hope to show you a sisal tree in a future tutorial.
Here is the easy way to make bottle brush tries ready for dying:
Find a plastic tub- I used those throw away containers. Fill the tub with bleach.
Soak your little trees in the bleach. You will see the color go away instantly.
About 3 minutes later - you have a naked tree!
See, they started off evergreen now they are wintery white.
Or a tad green... Which is adorable!
Now I am off to see if food coloring will work for dyeing. Any thoughts?!
Hugs and happy labor day all! Xoxo nan and Aine
